Newman Zone OS
Oxygen scavenger for anaerobic bioremediation
Newman Zone OS is a blend of food grade antioxidants, chelated ferrous iron catalyst, and buffering agents used to prepare water for anaerobic injections. It rapidly removes dissolved oxygen (DO) and free chlorine. Chlorinated tap water and DO can poison anaerobic microbes. By eliminating free chlorine and dissolved oxygen, Newman Zone OS protects bioaugmentation cultures such as SDC-9, SDC-9+ and TCA-20B. Newman Zone OS also ensures an optimal pH and provides vitamin B12 to stimulate rapid Dhc microbial growth.

Why Newman Zone OS
Successful anaerobic bioremediation depends on establishing and maintaining reducing conditions. Dissolved oxygen and free chlorine in injection water can poison anaerobic microbes and reduce treatment effectiveness. Newman Zone OS provides a fast and reliable method to remove dissolved oxygen prior to injection.

Low Cost Rapid Oxygen Removal
Quickly removes dissolved oxygen and free chlorine for one fifth the cost of Cysteine based oxygen scavangers.
Supports Bioaugmentation
Protects anaerobic cultures from free chlorine and oxygen, creates strongly reducing conditions prior to injection, ensures optimal pH, and adds vitamin B12 to stimulate Dhc microbial growth.
Works in Challenging Conditions
Effective in water with low pH, low dissolved solids and cold water temperatures when other oxygen scavenger chemistries fail.
Easy to Use
Pre-measured product for 1,000 gallons and 5,000 gallons of mix water. Just add the Newman Zone OS powder to an empty tank or tote and mix by filling with water.
Technical Details
How it Works
1. Rapidly Reduces Dissolved Oxygen
A vitamin C-based chemistry, bicarbonate buffer, and chelated ferrous iron catalyst react with dissolve oxygen, rapidly reducing oxygen concentrations in water.
2. Creates Reducing Conditions
Oxygen removal lowers Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP), producing anoxic water suitable for anaerobic microbial activity.
3. Supports Biological Activity
OS treated water is oxygen and chlorine free with a negative ORP, optimal pH, and vitamin B12 to stimulate microbial growth.
Application & Handling
- Added to tanks prior to filling with water. The filling process will mix and dissolve the OS powder.
- If tanks are already filled with water, mixing with pumps or mixers is needed.
- Typically produces chlorine and dissolved oxygen free water within one hour
- Negative ORP achieved within approximately two hours.
Packaging & Storage
Available in:
- 1-gallon pails (for ~1,000 gallon batches)
- 5-gallon pails (for ~5,000 gallon batches)
Storage:
- Stable for months under proper storage conditions
- Keep containers sealed to avoid exposure to oxygen and moisture
Safety
- Food grade, non-toxic components
- No known hazards under normal use conditions
- Standard PPE recommended during handling
